How Scales Work
|
|
Dial
- Weight is evenly distributed through the brackets and levers
- Long levers connect to a plate with spring
- Spring stretches in proportion to the weight imposed
- Pivot translates the up-and-down to side-to-side motion
- Rack and pinion translates the side-to-side to rotation motion
- Dial or indicator will turn and correct weight will appear in the window
Digital
- Weight is evenly distributed through the brackets and levers
- Long levers are connected to a beam
- A strain gauge is bonded on the beam
- Deflection of beam causes the change in resistance
- Output signal is translated to weight reading on LED display
Body Fat Monitoring
- Weight is distributed through the load cell at each corner of the base
- A strain gauge is bonded on each load cell
- Deflection of diaphragm causes the change in resistance
- Output signal is translated to weight reading on LCD
- Safe electrical current passes through the body fat to measure the impedance
- Body fat percentage is displayed on LCD in seconds
